Education Support Program

Education Support Program

In the course of our Outreach Ministry, we also observed the vulnerability and the bleak future of the many children we encountered.  So, out of the pressing need, Miqlat Ministry started the Education Support Program.

Poverty and ignorance are causal factors in forcing women into prostitution, and therefore, through education, we want to help better secure a positive future for at-risk children. Under the Education Support Program, the ministry provides education scholarships to the children of the women our ministry serves.

During Miqlat Ministry’s outreach efforts, we encountered many children of the women in the booze joints and the Redlight areas who do not attend school. When we ask the children why they are not in school, they very casually reply, “Because our parents can’t pay the school fees.” When we ask the women the same question, they say education is not for people like them – those who cannot afford school. This helped us realize we need to empower the children through education, so the vicious cycle of prostitution, exploitation, and abuse can be broken. In response to this big urgent need, we started the Education Support Program in 2012

Donating to the Education Support Program is another way to help support the mission of Miqlat Ministry.

Scholarships At Work

Today we have over 45 children in the Education Support program. The ministry consistently monitors their progress and also provides the children with tutoring classes through many ministry volunteers.

Being a holistic program, every summer the Education Support Program provides Vacation Bible School for the children. The Education Support Program also provides an opportunity for girls and women to continue their education and build a career, so they can pursue their dreams.
